Today I’m going to tell you how to make the easiest and fastest apple sauce ever. Perfect for fall! The only ingredient you actually need is an apple. Of course I’m going to share with you a few other ingredients you can add to make the apple sauce even more delicious! According to how long you cook the apples and how much water you add will change how the apples will turn out.
More water and cook longer -> apple sauce
Less water and cook less -> apple compote (the apples are still in pieces)
This is a very easy recipe and super healthy because there is no added sugar to my recipe. Plus, if your apples turn a little bit bad, it’s okay! You can use them to make the apple sauce, instead of throwing them away.
- 1 apple
- 2 tablespoons of water
- Options: cinnamon (1 teaspoon), goji berries (1 tablespoon), vanilla (1/2 teaspoon), lemon.
If you like really sweet food, then you can add maple syrup or honey. But I find the sugar from the apples very sweet already.
Wash your apple, even if you’re going to peel it later. Better safe than sorry 😛 Then, peel and cut your apple in pieces.
Add it to a saucepan with the water and any other options you’ve picked. I don’t really like cinnamon so my favourite is to add vanilla, lemon and goji berries. I add the goji berries towards the end, otherwise they get soggy.
Cover and cook over low to medium for about 15 to 20min. Keep checking on your apples every 5min to make sure they don’t stick to the saucepan. If it does, lower the heat and add water.
I like to have mine on its own, with yogurt or with my 1min Flourless Chocolate Cupcake.
