First of all, thank you for visiting my page. I have always loved cooking and baking for myself, my friends and family. So I recently decided to share all of my favourite recipes with you!
Some of the recipes will be my own, some will be re-creations of recipes I have found online or in recipe books. This blog will be mostly recipes that students can do, with just a few kitchen tools and ingredients. As I cannot eat gluten, a few of the blog posts will also be gluten free. Most of the recipes will be meals you can save for a few days in your fridge or even freeze to have ready for when it’s exam time and you don’t have time to cook. I will also post great potluck recipes since my friends and I love potlucks!
A little about me:
My name is Flavie and I am a French student studying in Vancouver, Canada. I moved here for university but all of my family is still back in France so I often go home to visit them and eat lots. Since I love travelling and I live in two different countries, I would say that my recipes are inspired by all the places I have visited or lived in.
I found out I was gluten intolerant a few years ago now. At first it was really difficult not being able to eat gluten while still living in France. I mean… how can you resist a fresh baguette or a croissant? Gluten free food wasn’t a thing back then, it is just starting to be more common now. It was really hard for me because, when I still lived with my parents, I would do a lot more baking than cooking. Finding out I couldn’t eat gluten all of the sudden meant I could not bake all of my favourite foods, or make it, but not eat it… It was really frustrating and so I turned more to cooking.
Now that some time has passed and living in Canada means I find a lot more gluten free ingredients, I am ready to start baking again. I haven’t found many gluten free dessert that I’m really in love with, but this is my path to finding one. I hope you’ll come along with me! 🙂
I would like to thank my mum for sharing the love of cooking and baking with me since day 1. And of course thank you to my dad, my brothers, my boyfriend and all of my friends for always supporting me and believing in me, even when I don’t myself!
Hope you enjoy the recipes! And do not hesitate to message me and send me recommendations. This is all very new to me, so let’s do this together 🙂
